Music Tree - An acoustic guitar themed image.
This is part 1 of my advanced photoshop final. I did three mixed media images inspired by music and Manga drawing books.

My assignments were light this first week, so I made this picture for fun.

Check back for some new artwork soon. My classes start August 28th.

The neighborhood kids are helping me practice my photoshop skills. I did this graphic for the opening credits of their new movie. Rumor has it that there have been a few scheduling problems. Some of the actors have also been difficult to work with. Let’s hope they can finish it before school starts.

I had to do a magazine cover for my Photoshop final. I started out with an animal magazine since we went to the zoo last weekend, but I really wanted to do a Santa Cruz magazine with Robert Steffen on the cover. Robert Steffen used to sit on the Pacific Garden mall covered in trash bags and an umbrella. You couldn’t even see him. He would say “have a nice day” to everyone passing by. He was covered in signs advertising his campaign for US president as part of the Black Sheep Party. Rumor has it that he used to work for NASA Ames as an electrical engineer. A couple years ago Robert came out from under his big black trash bags. He can be seen most afternoons walking very slowly with his Tweety Bird parasol up and down the mall. He was nice enough to let me take a few photos.

I chose John Lennon for my midterm collage project. After several tweaks this is the version I am going to turn in.

This picture was an exercise in using color for effect in a photo. I altered the gray rocks in the background and gave them a warm color palette. The squirrels in Yosemite are very friendly!
This assignment was geared towards including some text in an image. I wasn’t quite happy with it, but I’m trying not to get behind in class. I think I will alter the colors in the text and the background when I get a chance.

A duotone takes a grayscale image and adds depth and detail by converting it to two colors. This is Kayla in a bridesmaid dress superimposed in front of bridalveil falls. The image of Jake and the lion is also a duotone. After I worked hard to convert the image to a duotone, Kayla wanted to know if I could make it a color picture.
This was part of an assignment to combine photos with borders and text. It was a difficult experience having Emily’s cast removed. It took 45 minutes with a saw next to her skin.
